Your written quote

What can affect the final denture fee?

The written quote reflects the service assessed for the individual patient rather than applying one price to every denture of the same broad type.

Denture type and material

Full, acrylic partial, flexible and chrome dentures use different designs, materials and laboratory processes.

Design and components

The number and position of replacement teeth, clasps, framework elements, reinforcement and other components may affect the work required.

Clinical and laboratory stages

Additional impressions, records, try-ins, adjustments, repairs to an existing appliance or other assessed work may affect the quoted fee.

Home-visit charges: any applicable travel charge and the payment timing are stated in the written quote before treatment proceeds. See how mobile appointments work.

How to ask your health fund

  1. Use the quoted item numberCheck the item number shown on the written quote rather than relying only on the broad treatment name.
  2. Ask about your current policyAsk what benefit may apply to that item number, including any waiting period, annual limit, sub-limit or remaining balance.
  3. Use the answer as an estimateCompare the fund's estimate with the written fee. The final benefit remains subject to the fund's assessment and the cover available when the claim is processed.
Medicare

Routine private dentures are generally not covered

Medicare generally does not pay benefits for routine private denture treatment. Public dental services and limited government dental programs have separate eligibility, referral and provider arrangements.

DVA and public dental programs

Confirm the arrangement before treatment

If you hold a Veteran Card or public dental voucher, provide the card or voucher details when enquiring. Eligibility, provider acceptance, any required approval and the services covered must be confirmed before treatment is arranged.

Common questions

Denture pricing and health fund FAQs

Are the prices shown the final treatment fees?

No. The displayed amounts are starting guides for common services. The final fee depends on the assessed treatment, design, materials and work required, and is confirmed in a written quote before treatment begins.

Is a home visit included in the displayed price?

A travel charge may apply depending on the location and appointment arrangements. Any applicable charge is stated in the written quote before treatment proceeds rather than assumed to be included in every guide price.

How much will my health fund pay towards dentures?

The benefit depends on the fund, policy, waiting periods, annual limits, sub-limits and remaining cover. The relevant item number is provided on the quote so the member can ask the fund for an estimate. The fund makes the final claim decision.

Can I use a DVA card or public dental voucher?

Eligibility and provider arrangements vary. Provide the card or voucher details when enquiring so acceptance, any required approval and the services covered can be confirmed before treatment is arranged.
