What is a dental prosthetist?
A dental prosthetist is a registered dental practitioner who focuses on removable dentures and mouthguards. Prosthetists first train in the technical construction of dental appliances, then complete further clinical training to treat patients directly.
No referral is required for denture care within scope. A patient can contact a dental prosthetist directly. Extractions, treatment of natural teeth or other dental care may require coordination with a dentist.
The practitioner also completes the laboratory work. Lev assesses, makes, fits and adjusts the dentures supplied through Northside Denture Clinic.
Current practitioner registration can be checked through the Ahpra Register of practitioners.

How the practice works
One practitioner from first impression to final adjustment
Suitable consultations, impressions, try-ins, fittings and adjustments are completed during mobile appointments at homes, retirement villages and aged-care facilities. Laboratory stages are completed in Northside Denture Clinic's laboratory using the materials selected for the individual denture or appliance.
Lev remains the practitioner responsible for the assessment, relevant records, laboratory work, fitting and adjustments. Appointment location and the work completed at each visit depend on the service and treatment stage.
