Mobile denture care

Denture home visits, arranged directly

Across Sydney's North Shore, appointments with a dental prosthetist can be arranged at homes, retirement villages and aged-care facilities. Depending on the treatment stage, a visit may include assessment, impressions, try-ins, fitting, adjustment or collection of an existing denture.

Who home visits may suit

When mobile denture appointments may be practical

Home visits may be useful where mobility, transport, health, caring arrangements or supported accommodation make repeated clinic travel difficult.

01

No clinic journey

Suitable appointments take place at the patient's home or facility, avoiding the need to organise clinic travel, parking and building access.

02

One dental prosthetist

Lev Terterian assesses the patient, takes the required records and completes the associated denture laboratory work.

03

Support person involvement

A family member, carer or other support person may attend and assist with communication, decisions and paperwork where authorised.

04

Familiar surroundings

Assessment can take place in the patient's usual environment, which may be helpful for people who find travel or unfamiliar settings difficult.

05

Pickup and return

Suitable dentures may be collected and returned for repairs, relines and other laboratory work by arrangement.

Direct booking

No referral required

A patient or authorised representative can contact a dental prosthetist directly for denture care within scope. If extractions, treatment of natural teeth or other care is needed first, coordination with a dentist may be required.

Appointment process

How mobile denture appointments work

New dentures are generally completed over several visits so the required clinical and laboratory stages can be checked. Repairs and relines may follow a shorter collection, assessment and return process, depending on the denture and work required.

  1. Call or send an enquiryTell us the suburb, what help is needed and whether you are arranging the visit for yourself, a parent or an aged-care resident.
  2. We confirm the visit detailsWe explain what the appointment is likely to involve, who should be present and whether any paperwork, medication list or facility approval is needed.
  3. Lev visits the patientThe appointment may include an assessment, impressions, bite records, a try-in, fitting, adjustment or collection of an existing denture.
  4. Laboratory work happens between visitsThe denture is made, repaired or adjusted in our own laboratory by the same practitioner who assessed the patient.
  5. We return for the next stageNew dentures progress through the required clinical stages. Repairs and relines are returned by arrangement, with a fit check where appropriate.

For families and carers

Arranging a visit for someone you support

A family member, carer or other authorised representative may make the initial enquiry, attend appointments and assist with communication, paperwork or payment. Tell us who should receive booking information and appointment updates.

If the patient needs assistance with communication or decision-making, explain the relevant support, consent and facility arrangements when booking so the visit can be planned appropriately.

Continuity is built into the service: the same dental prosthetist assesses the patient, manages the relevant laboratory work and completes fitting and adjustment stages.

If an existing denture is no longer being worn, feels loose, rubs, traps food or requires increasing adhesive, describe this when enquiring. An assessment can determine whether adjustment, repair, reline, replacement or coordination with a dentist may be considered.

Common questions

Home visit FAQs

Do I need a dentist's referral?

No referral is required to book directly with a dental prosthetist. If extractions or another form of dental care is needed first, we will explain that after assessment.

Can you visit an aged-care facility?

Yes. Visits can be arranged at residential aged care, subject to the facility's access, consent and care requirements. Family or staff can help coordinate the booking.

How long does a home visit take?

The length depends on the appointment type and the patient's needs. We explain what is planned when confirming the booking rather than applying one duration to every visit.

Can a family member or carer be present?

Yes. A family member, carer or support person is welcome to attend and may assist with decisions, communication and paperwork where authorised.

Can health fund extras apply?

Some extras policies contribute towards eligible denture services. Any rebate depends on the fund, level of cover, waiting periods and annual limits. The relevant item number is provided with the quote or receipt so the patient can check directly with their fund.

What if the patient is nervous about a home visit?

You are welcome to have a family member or support person present. The service is provided by a registered dental prosthetist at an agreed time, and the first visit includes an opportunity to ask questions before deciding on treatment.

Lev Terterian is a registered dental prosthetist. Check the Ahpra Register for current registration.
